Incorporating the cyano group into diiron and diruthenium complexes for potential electrocatalytic applications
The thesis work has focused on investigating the reactivity of a series of diiron and diruthenium bis-cyclopentadienyl complexes with the cyanide ion, affording various derivatives. Spectroscopic methods (IR, multinuclear NMR) have been employed to characterize the products, while DFT calculations have provided insights into structural and thermodynamic aspects. Preliminary electrochemical studies have been conducted to assess the potential suitability of the new complexes for electrocatalytic applications.
