Research on the correction of enclosed line diagram limiting conditions for the selection of gear transmission modification coefficients

ObjectiveTo determine the modification coefficient using a well-defined and comprehensive enclosed line diagram method, the aim is to optimize the transmission performance of modified gears, improve meshing characteristics, reduce structural dimensions, and approximately fulfill design requirements such as equal strength.MethodsA verification was conducted on the limit values of 235 enclosed line diagrams on the limiting curve in Involute Modified Gear Transmission edited by Zhang Zhan. During this process, it was discovered that the original enclosed line diagram had errors in determining the starting point position of the involute profile working section when setting certain limiting conditions. In response to this technical challenge, the problem of determining the starting point position of the involute profile working section was successfully solved, and the corresponding calculation formula for the limiting conditions was derived. On this basis, the “Enclosed Diagram Software for Gear Modification Coefficient Selection V2.0” was developed using VB.NET language.ResultsThe vector enclosed line diagram was accurately drawn on the AutoCAD platform, and necessary corrections were made to the original erroneous enclosed line diagram.
