Projections and Perceptions-Editorial Comments. Term Papers or Theses or Whatever Without Chaos
Most geography students at the college level will become involved in a research project of some sort at some time in their academic careers. There are several ways that this might occur. For example, there are term papers for specific courses and senior theses at the undergraduate level, and pressure problems, master's theses and Ph.D. dissertations at the graduate level. Further, on occasions students will prepare research papers to be given at a meeting of a professional society or to be submitted to a professional or semi-professional journal for publication. Also, graduate students may write proposals for funding or to obtain approval from a committee to begin work on a thesis or dissertation. The preparation of the proposal in itself requires research work.
