Description des effets induits par des outils technologiques dans la prise en soin des troubles dépressifs de la personne âgée institutionnalisée présentant des troubles cognitifs
Associated with significant prevalence, morbidity and mortality, managing depression of the elderly persons is clearly identified in today's societal challenges (Sibille and al., 2019). In a context of cognitive loss, depressive disorder precipitates the behavioral and psychiatric disorders associated with dementia while placement in a nursing home further worsens the prognosis (Thomas & Hazif-Thomas, 2013). It has is now established that psychotherapy must complement drug treatment (Limosin, 2015). This study investigates both the effects of a therapy based on relaxation sessions carried out through a virtual reality headset, as well as the effects of a therapy based on behavioral activation through the use of a pedal system (Moto-med®) that allows elderly people to take a ''virtual ride''. This study concerns residents of an Ehpad in the south of Moselle and includes dependent persons aged 75 to 90 with both cognitive impairments and a diagnosed depressive disorder. Main criteria are assessed using the Cornell Geriatric Depression Scale (Alexopoulos et al., 1988) and the Neuropsychiatric Inventory for Care Team (NPI-ES) (Sisco et al., 2000). The Observed Emotion Rating Scale (OERS) is used to ensure that elderly people agree to the therapies offered to them (Van Haitsma & Klapper,1999). This study observes the effects of different therapies and their possible persistence, depending on the age of the person and the extent of co-occurring cognitive impairment. It may could offer a new approach to the care of a vulnerable elderly population and provide support for drug treatment
