Decision-making dynamics of EV adoption in rural US: Drivers, barriers, and perceptual reasons
Rural residents travel significantly more than urban residents, yet the factors influencing Electric Vehicle (EV) adoption in rural US are understudied. Understanding how rural contexts - including barriers and norms - shape EV adoption decisions is crucial for transportation decarbonization. We will survey residents in Vermont and Maine to gather data on perceived barriers, drivers, social norms, values, and EV adoption intentions. This survey data will be linked to a comprehensive DMV dataset to include travel behavior information. Our findings will inform policies aimed at increasing EV adoption in rural areas.
