War has a unique impact on the perception of media products, such as comedy shows, which can serve as both a crucial means of distraction and entertainment in times of stress and a source of controversy and outrage due to the use of inappropriate discriminatory content. This scientific article focuses on studying the nature and impact of discriminatory content in comedy shows during the Russian-Ukrainian war. The article highlights a case where the performers of “95 Kvartal” attempted a joke in the sketch “I’m siSkadovska” about a girl from the temporarily occupied Skadovsk trying to switch to the Ukrainian language. The joke sparked societal outrage and active discussions on social media.
