Tevhidî Açıdan İslam Hat Sanatının Gayesi
Tawhid is the cornerstone of Islamic creed, shaping the essence of faith and the worldview of every Muslim individual. This belief profoundly influences a person’s way of thinking, lifestyle, and creative expression. Islamic art, nourished by this divine unity, has developed a structure centered on revelation in both form and content. Calligraphy, which emerged through the transcription of the Qur’an — the direct expression of revelation — stands as one of the most powerful visual representations of tawhid within Islamic arts. Calligraphy is not merely an aesthetic practice; it is also a domain where the belief in divine unity finds expression through the written word. This study will examine calligraphic works that focus on themes of tawhid and reveal how this art form visually reinforces the concept of divine oneness. The works produced by great master calligraphers demonstrate that the ultimate aim of the art is not purely aesthetic, but rather to glorify faith. Therefore, Islamic calligraphy will be presented not just as a visual form, but as a contemplative product originating from the One (Al-Wahid). The study will explore how calligraphy, in both its theoretical and visual dimensions, reflects and supports the understanding of tawhid.
