OVERVIEW OF THE ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION “LANGUAGE EDUCATION: YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW” UNDER THE AEGIS OF THE STATE COUNCIL OF THE UDMURT REPUBLIC

The International Scientific and Educational Forum “Multilingualism Week at Udmurt State University” takes place annually at the end of winter. The forum features a rich programme of events: open lectures, seminars, workshops, presentations, games, and creative competitions. The common core of the forum is the generalisation and dissemination of innovative experience in the field of language, including multilingual education and upbringing. Participants include students and faculty from UdSU and partner universities, high school students from Izhevsk and other regions of the Udmurt Republic, teachers of foreign and native languages, and language instructors in the field of supplementary language education. The main organisers are the faculty and staff of the Institute of Language and Literature at UdSU. One of the important events of the XVI International Scientific and Educational Forum in 2025 was the roundtable discussion “Language Education: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow,” held under the aegis of the State Council of the Udmurt Republic. This roundtable served as a discussion platform for researchers in philology and pedagogy interested in the current content and technologies of language education and upbringing of national identity within the multilingual educational environment of a multicultural region. The roundtable aimed to integrate philological and pedagogical approaches in the co-study of languages and cultures in both primary and supplementary education at various educational levels: preschool, school, and professional. The organiser was the Scientific and Educational Centre “Innovative Design in a Multilingual Educational Environment” of the Institute of Language and Literature at UdSU (Scientific Director: Doctor of Philology, Full Professor T.I. Zelenina; Director: Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor O.V. Toikina).
