Modelo y calco
This article deciphers radial prison architecture using the work Cahier de Fleurs as its central axis. Based on an analysis of floor plans from prisons dating from the 18th to the 20th century, the work offers a critical reflection on the role of spatial arrangement in surveillance, discipline, and the construction of the subject. The study articulates two main lines of inquiry: the collection and systematization of archival information, inspired by Norman Johnston’s taxonomy, and the visual translation of that information through a series of drawings executed with a unified formal code. The sequential presentation of the drawings in chronological order enables a dual Reading, both diachronic and synchronic, which highlights the serial, cumulative, and open-ended nature of the work. Cahier de Fleurs is positioned at the intersection of art, archive, and architecture, from a contemporary perspective that reconfigures the relationship between representa-tion, memory, and power.
