Du coup d’État constitutionnel au coup d’État militaire dans Les Gardiens du temple de Cheikh Hamidou Kane
Studies of Cheikh Hamidou Kane’s Les Gardiens du temple have focused more on the work’s cultural significance. Yet this second and final novel by the Senegalese author is also political, with two coups d’état (constitutional and military) marking the narrative. While the first revolts the people, the second seems to reassure them. Our aim is to analyze the effects of political decisions. To this end, we intend to draw on sociocriticism and stylistic analysis. This work reveals that bad political choices always lead to unrest on all fronts, causing irreversible chaos.
