Enhanced logic for conveyor system in industrial automation

This master’s thesis project aims to enhance the efficiency and energy savings of a pro- duction line within a factory utilizing a conveyor belt system for moving palletized goods. The core objective is to develop an innovative method for transferring pallets among con- veyor belts, enabling continuous pallet exchange under predefined conditions. Redefining this logic presents an opportunity to decouple the related functions at the coding level, allowing them to operate independently from the low-level automation systems and the specific unit loads being transported. By optimizing pallet handling, the proposed ap- proach seeks to minimize mechanical stresses and improve overall operational efficiency. Furthermore, a novel logic is introduced to enhance transportation performance by elim- inating the reliance on photocells in transferring goods. The expected outcome is a more reliable and sustainable production process, providing significant economic and environ- mental benefits to the industry. This research advances industrial automation, driving improvements in both productivity and sustainability.
