Efficience de la productivité au Maroc vs MENA : regards à court et long terme
This study focused on evaluating the efficiency of labor productivity in Morocco compared to 15 other nations in the MENA region between 2007 and 2019. Using a stochastic frontier model that incorporates the main factors influencing shortterm and long-term inefficiency, we found that despite notable progress, Morocco remains below the regional average in terms of efficiency, with an average score of 58%. Transitory inefficiency, although relatively low at nearly 3%, shows encouraging signs with a downward trend. Conversely, persistent inefficiency, reaching a concerning level of 53%, remains a major challenge, attributable to deep structural obstacles. Only systemic changes and long-term policies will enable the country to unlock its economic potential and enhance its regional competitiveness.
