Aplicação do Método Geral de Resolução de Equações de Viète na Sala de Aula com Alunos do Ensino Secundario

We present a study based on a didactic experience carried out in the mathematics classroom with high school students. For this, we have used a general historical method for solving equations derived from the ancient method of extracting roots by binomial expansion, with the configuration of the Spanish mathematician from the 17th century, José Zaragoza. By doing so, we have attempted to enrich both the students’ scientific and cultural knowledge about the History of Mathematics. The results show that the students have learned the method, thus expanding the types of equations they know how to solve.
