SOILS4MED: Harmonization and Expansion of Soil Indicators in the Mediterranean
This current work aims to present the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) project SOILS4MED. Soils in the Mediterranean and Near East and North Africa (NENA) regions are vulnerable to climate change, erosion, and other degradation factors. SOILS4MED aims to harmonize soil indicators (chemical, physical and biological), provide soil data, and monitor the condition of soils in the region. It will contribute to further map soils, expand monitoring networks and indicators, identify relevant actors, and help improve soil and water management practices. The potential of the region’s soils to sequester carbon will be further investigated. Abstract submitted to the 13th Panhellenic Conference of the Hellenic Agricultural Engineers Society (H.A.E.S.).
