Process-oriented Data Science for the Analysis and Comparison of the inner Processes of Italian Legal Courts
Process Mining (PM) is a research discipline at the intersection of Data Mining and Process Modeling. Its aim is to analyze processes starting from their event log data, enabling the discovery of patterns and the detection of inefficiencies within those processes. This work presents a PM methodology designed to support court administrations in making data driven decisions to improve performance. As a case study it considers consensual divorce proceedings in two courts in northern Italy covering the period from 2013 to 2021. The analysis focuses on the evolution of procedural structures over time in one court, as well as a comparison between the two courts.
