Optimal growth conditions to synthesize 2D hybrid-organic-inorganic perovskite for circular photogalvanic effect
The circular photogalvanic effect (CPGE) is a phenomenon in which circularly polarized light induces a direct current (DC) in a spin-selective material without an applied external voltage. One of the primary mechanisms driving CPGE is Rashba splitting of electronic bands, which arises from strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC) in the presence of inversion symmetry breaking. In this study, we observed CPGE in two-dimensional phenethylammonium lead iodide (2D PEPI), a representative 2D hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite (2D-HOIP) with a multiple quantum well configuration. We optimize the synthesis of 2D PEPI single crystals using the anti-solvent vapor-assisted capping crystallization (AVCC) method to identify the optimal growth conditions for enhanced CPGE.
