Navigating Tomorrow:Opportunities and Novel Approaches in Technology Foresight

In today’s dynamic technological landscape, organizations can leverage Technology Foresight (TF) to identify and anticipate emerging trends and innovations. This paper investigates the perception and application of TF, as well as associated challenges, within a large Danish manufacturing firm. Employing a qualitative methodology, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with managers and directors across multiple departments, and analyzed using the Gioia method. The study identifies key challenges related to internal process barriers, organizational alignment, and external market dynamics. To address these, the paper proposes a conceptual framework informed by literature on TF, Project Portfolio Management (PPM), and knowledge management. Central to the framework is the establishment of a dedicated TF hub designed to support TF processes, standardize practices, and facilitate cross-departmental knowledge sharing. This structure aims to enhance organizational readiness for emerging technological developments.
