Médicos e o Estado: entre projetos e alianças em Teresina (1930 -1940)
This article analyzes medical performance and its relationship with the State in Teresina, because of the incorporation of public health policies, expanded in the 1930s and 1940s, based on projects and alliances, which made it possible for the state to mediate in health, through the intermediation of the Board of Public Health of Piauí and the management of physicians in hospital institutions, bureaucratic sectors and health positions. The methodology used consisted of the systematization of the bibliography related to the theme and analysis of the jornal Diário Oficial do Piauí. It was concluded that the growth of scientific medical protagonism occurred especially with the partnership established between physicians and the State, which enabled them to work in institutions and bureaucratic health bodies, assuming positions of directors of public health, clinical physicians and in politics. At the same time, they also worked in medical societies and associations, medical journals, offices and clinics, improving knowledge and adding value to medical work.
