MAMOGI - A Maturity Model Towards Gaia-X Conformity in Industry 4.0

As data becomes a key resource in Industry 4.0, the ability to collect, share, and analyze it systematically is emerging as a company’s core competency. Industry 4.0 enables extensive data exchange through technologies within the Internet of Things, benefiting industrial enterprises. As a result, European data ecosystem initiatives like Gaia-X have arisen to provide safe and trustworthy data infrastructures. However, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), in particular, face challenges in adapting their processes to these data ecosystems and their prerequisites. To be part of these ecosystems, SMEs need guidance to address issues such as trustworthiness or interoperability. This paper presents MAMOGI, a conceptual maturity model designed to guide SMEs towards Gaia-X compliance in Industry 4.0. It is structured around three main dimensions and twelve fields of action. MAMOGI helps evaluate digital maturity and set goals for leveraging Gaia-X compliance to enhance competitiveness and efficiency in industrial data ecosystems.
