How Wind Turbines Stay in Control: Using Differential Equations to Regulate Power Output
Wind turbines operate in constantly changing wind conditions, which can cause their speed and power output to fluctuate. This project explores how systems of differential equations can model and regulate the performance of a wind turbine. I will show how a simple feedback control system can adjust the turbine’s speed in response to wind conditions, using specific parameters to keep the system stable. Through this analysis, I will explain how mathematical modeling helps ensure the safe and efficient operation of wind turbines.
