Geçmişten Günümüze Kriz İletişimi Çalışmalarına Yönelik Bir Analiz(An Analysis of Crisis Communıcation Studies From The Past to The Present )

This study aims to analyze the evolving structure and thematic trends of “crisis communication” studies indexed in the Web of Science database over the years. Crisis communication is a field of study with a variable structure that focuses on certain issues from time to time due to its nature. In this regard, while the development of the field is associated with core research topics, discovering changing themes and future hotspots is important for researchers and institutions. To achieve this goal, the multidisciplinary nature of the field has been analyzed through clusters created by running the LDA (topic modeling) algorithm on abstracts, alongside journal and keyword co-citation maps of WoS-indexed publications. The findings show that studies on this topic have increased since 2000, with a rapid surge observed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Keywords most commonly used in conjunction, such as "crisis communication" (980), "social media" (312), "covid-19" (221), "public relations" (129), and "twitter" (111), indicate that crisis communication, and consequently public relations, are addressed in studies along with social media platforms and will continue to be so. This suggests that there will be a need in the future to utilize digitalization in a way that benefits experts in the context of crisis communication.
