Fomentar las habilidades de pensamiento computacional en los maestros del Programa Ondas Caldas

The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a computational thinking training program for teachers participating in the Ondas program in Caldas, Colombia. A quasi-experimental pilot study was conducted, employing pre- and post-intervention assessments. The sample consisted of 31 primary and secondary teachers from rural areas across Caldas’ municipalities. The CTt computational thinking test served as the primary measure of outcomes. The intervention spanned 40 hours, delivered through a hybrid methodology over two months. Results indicated a statistically significant improvement in teachers’ computational thinking skills. Gender-related differences were noted, with women initially scoring slightly lower. Additionally, primary school teachers demonstrated better baseline results compared to their secondary school counterparts. The findings highlight the positive impact of computational thinking training for educators, highlighting its potential as a catalyst for educational innovation. This pilot study aims to inform future research endeavors in teacher training focused on computational thinking.
