Feluppskattning inom beräkningsbaserad elektromagnetism och dess påverkan på noggrannheten : Adaptiv meshförfining för Method of Moments

The rapid development of wireless technologies necessitates highly integrated antennas tailored for specific use cases. Designing such antennas requires multiple iterations using electromagnetic field solvers to ensure optimal performance in the final product. Improving the efficiency of these simulation models is critical for accelerating development and reducing time-to-market. This thesis explores methods to enhance the efficiency of a solver based on the Method of Moments with the Rao-Wilton-Glisson basis function by selectively refining the numerical solution (i.e., the mesh) in areas with the highest estimated error. Several error estimation methods, ranging from simple heuristics to advanced dual-space calculations, are introduced and evaluated. By comparing these methods against uniform mesh refinement, the study provides insights into error distribution within antenna structures and highlights the limitations of each approach. Ultimately, this research contributes to the development of faster and more efficient simulation techniques for antenna design, paving the way for improved wireless technologies.
