An empirical analysis of foreign trade concentration between Türkiye and Egypt (2005-2023)

This study aims to analyze the development of foreign trade between Türkiye and Egypt for the period 2005-2023, following the implementation of their free trade agreement. For this purpose, the concentration levels of foreign trade between those countries were evaluated through the calculation of the Export Concentration Index, and the Import Concentration Index. The findings of the study indicate that, despite the tensions following the 2011 Arab Spring, the foreign trade relationship between Türkiye and Egypt has shown a consistent and substantial improvement. The clearest evidence showed concentration indices for both countries' exports and imports have significantly surpassed 1 (≥1).
