Estrategia metodológica para la inclusión de estudiantes con discapacidad intelectual en las clases de Educación Física
Educational inclusion in Ecuador has made significant strides, focusing on individuals with intellectual disabilities to promote their active and equitable participation in achieving personal and social well-being. The objective is to design a methodological strategy to effectively include students with intellectual disabilities in Physical Education classes. The methodology was cross-sectional and quantitative, applying surveys through two instruments administered to six students with intellectual disabilities and four Physical Education teachers. The results showed that students need personalized exercises and simplified rules for better understanding and participation. The importance of specialized support and the use of adapted materials was highlighted. Teachers reported the need to implement diverse strategies to encourage physical and social participation. It is concluded that the study provides a fundamental contribution by developing a specific methodological strategy for including students with intellectual disabilities in Physical Education classes, structured around key dimensions such as content adaptation, provision of support, physical participation, and social participation.
