Estudio para la identificación de comportamientos generadores de conflicto y violencia en una institución educativa

This study aimed to identify the behaviors that lead to conflict and violence in an educational institution in Medellin, Colombia. It not only explored the school environment and student relationships, but also the family dynamics and social issues that were affecting high school students. The goal was to recommend strategies for school administrators and teachers to address these challenges. To collect data, the research used semi-structured interviews with high school students, qualitative analysis questionnaires, participant observation, sociodemographic tables, and an examination of institutional documents. Findings revealed that students exhibited several behaviors that contribute to conflict and violence, such as bullying related to physical appearance, origin, nicknames, gossip, and theft. The root causes of these behaviors were complex, as many students came from impoverished backgrounds, lacked parental guidance, and faced disrupted family lives. Additionally, the presence of criminal organizations in the area significantly influenced students, exposing them to criminal activities and substance abuse.
