Estrategias para una Educación Inclusiva en Ingeniería: Desafíos y Soluciones Docentes en la UPMH

The purpose of this research was to identify the challenges faced by teachers in implementing inclusive education in the Animation and Visual Effects Engineering and Information Technology programs at the Metropolitan Polytechnic University of Hidalgo (UPMH). The objective was to design strategies to improve teaching and learning, communication, and classroom interaction. A mixed-method approach was used, using surveys and open-ended questions to teachers, which yielded quantitative and qualitative results. More than 50% of participants expressed feeling unprepared to serve students with special educational needs, highlighting the lack of inclusive training and insufficient time to adapt materials as the main barriers. However, the majority expressed willingness to receive training. Among the institutional actions implemented were the hiring of a sign language interpreter and the launch of workshops on inclusive education. Additionally, with the support of a specialist in special educational needs, strategies were designed for students with autism, ADHD, and hearing impairments. The conclusion is that, despite the challenges, it is possible to move toward more inclusive education through teacher training, methodological adjustments, and institutional support.
