Evaluación de la condición física en niños preescolares: aplicación e implicaciones de la batería prefit en la promoción de la salud infantil
Introduction: The growing concern about sedentary behavior and its negative effects on health from an early age has led to research focused on the physical condition of preschool children. Objective: The objective of this study is to assess the physical condition of preschoolers through the application of the PREFIT battery to measure their physical condition, allowing the evaluation of crucial aspects of their health and well-being. Materials y methods: A quantitative research was conducted to assess the physical condition of preschool children using the PREFIT battery. The sample, selected in a non-probabilistic manner, consisted of 11 children aged 4 to 5 years. Four physical tests designed to measure strength, speed, balance, and aerobic endurance were administered. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results and discussion: The results showed an average of 72.72 in the standing long jump. In the 4x10m speed and agility test, the average was 18.21. Regarding balance, an average of 19.02 was obtained, while in the 20-meter test, an average of 34.5 seconds was recorded. The results of the preschool participants were consistent with previous studies. Conclusions: Although similar results to previous research were observed, the need for more scientific evidence to assess physical condition in preschoolers is highlighted, allowing for more precise comparisons and determining the state of the children.
