Efecto de una Intervención Educativa sobre la Percepción del Uso de Insulinas

Introduction: In Mexico, DM 2 is the main cause of disability due to its complications, as well as years lost due to premature death and mortality. Its prevalence in terms of diagnosis increased from 7% to 8.9% between 2006 and 2012. Most patients have poor glycemic control secondary to a rejection of insulin due to beliefs about its use and application. For this reason, it is important to know the effect of an educational intervention on the perception of insulin use in patients with type 2 diabetes. Objective: To determine the effect of an educational intervention on the perception of insulin use in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: A validated questionnaire was applied to patients from UMF 55 with a diagnosis of DM2: the ITAS (Treatment Appraisal Scale) with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.89; which consists of 4 questions of positive perception and 16 questions of negative perception in a population of 280 patients. Results: McNemar was used and it was concluded that P is less than 0.05 (0.0), therefore: The educational intervention improves the perception of insulin use in patients with type 2 diabetes. Conclusions: After analyzing the results, it can be concluded that the educational intervention improves the perception of insulin use in patients with DM2.
