A Dualidade da Magia: desconstrução e Reconstrução do Arquétipo Feminino na Literatura - Uma Análise Comparativa entre a Bruxa e o Mago
This article examines the historical and social construction of the negative image of the witch in literature, contrasting it with the empowered figure of the wizard, particularly in the realm of fantasy literature. The study investigates how historical events have influenced the representation of female roles in society and how these representations are reflected in literary narratives. It focuses on how contemporary authors have challenged and subverted traditional stereotypes associated with witches, portraying them in more empowered, complex, and positive ways. By analyzing two significant works of Western culture—L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit—the article highlights how these figures have been adapted across various media, influencing cultural perceptions. The study emphasizes that myths, symbols, and archetypes, such as those of the witch and wizard, play crucial roles in interpreting timeless messages and cultural resonances. By reimagining the witch, contemporary literature contributes to reshaping her image in the collective imagination, offering a more nuanced and positive representation.
