Cuidado transpessoal com aromaterapia e massagem: aplicação da teoria de Jean Watson na saúde mental
The theory of transpersonal care recognizes the human being as a unique entity, emphasizing the inseparability of mind and body, promoting holistic and interactive care within a non-invasive energy field, providing a comprehensive view of health. In this context, Integrative and Complementary Health Practices (PICS) emerge, aiming to complement conventional care with alternative therapeutic approaches. The present study investigates the presence of the principles of Jean Watson's theory of transpersonal care in aromatherapy and massage sessions conducted at a Basic Health Unit in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. This is an exploratory descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Six massage sessions with aromatherapy were conducted, and participants were evaluated using a semi-structured script, with convenience sampling. Data analysis followed Bardin's thematic content analysis method. At the beginning of the study, participants showed a favorable attitude and an accepting posture, demonstrating curiosity and positive expectations regarding the treatment. The novelty of the experience, the expectation of benefits, trust in the therapist, and the establishment of a transpersonal bond were factors that contributed to this initial receptivity. The results highlight the combination of aromatherapy and massage as an effective complementary therapeutic approach in the treatment of mental disorders, underscoring the effectiveness of PICS in light of Jean Watson's theory.
