Desigualdades Educativas en Contextos Rurales y Urbanos en el Ecuador
This research focuses on the analysis of existing educational inequalities between rural and urban contexts in Ecuador, recognizing that education is a fundamental right and a key tool for social development. To this end, it addresses socioeconomic factors—such as poverty, child labor, and unequal access to resources—that directly impact students' educational trajectories. Using a quantitative, descriptive, and correlational approach, official data and standardized assessment results are examined to provide a comprehensive view of the problem. This methodology made it possible to precisely identify existing differences in access, retention, and academic performance between the two territorial contexts. The findings reveal a complex reality: although certain indicators, such as school promotion and dropout rates, appear similar between urban and rural areas, deep inequalities persist in the conditions surrounding the educational process. However, academic results show minimal differences, suggesting that many rural students must make a significantly greater effort to achieve similar performance to their urban peers. Given this scenario, the research concludes that it is necessary to implement public policies that not only focus on improving educational coverage but also consider the specificities of the territorial environment, by promoting differentiated and contextualized strategies that guarantee real equality of opportunity for all students regardless of their area of residence.
