The contribution of telemedicine in the accessibility of minority groups to health care

At a time when one seeks to achieve maximum efficiency in health care delivery, telemedicine is increasingly becoming a reality. The evolution of this process goes hand in hand with technological evolution, and gained great expression with the pandemic. For this reason, it is important to understand whether telemedicine's contribution to healthcare is seen as universal and reaches everyone in the same way, namely minority groups with more vulnerable socio-demographic and economic conditions. The main purpose of this study is to identify the contribution of telemedicine in healthcare for minority groups. The methodology used was a scoping review, prepared according to the guidelines of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI). The literature search was performed using the Pubmed search engine with the filter of Free full text, in the last 10 years, Humans, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Female, Male, Adult: 19+ years, in open context. The search strategy used MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) Terms and appropriate keywords. Twelve articles that met all the inclusion criteria were included. The studies address the preferences, advantages and barriers that minority groups face when seeking healthcare through telemedicine. Finally it was possible to identify that minority groups in general have difficulty accessing telemedicine.
