“Carecían de estrategia”: la gestión de prensa de grupos feministas, indígenas y ambientalistas en la Convención Constitucional chilena

This article examines how feminist, Indigenous, and environmentalist groups managed their rela-tionship with the press during Chile’s 2021 Cons-titutional Convention. Drawing on interviews with journalists and editors from media outlets aligned with these agendas, the study highlights a lack of professional communication strategies within the-se groups. The findings indicate that, contrary to prevailing normative concerns in studies on spin doctoring, journalists value a professional counter-part who facilitates the flow of information without compromising journalistic autonomy. Indeed, re-porters and editors from the media outlets studied expect to collaborate with a professional counter-part providing information subsidies, viewing this not as a threat to their independence. We propo-se that professional press advisory work can be understood as political public relations that foster mutual benefit, rather than merely harmful mani-pulation of political communication.
