Comprendiendo la democracia colombiana: Desde las prescripciones valorativas a las realizaciones políticas

The objective of this work is to analyze the theoretical positions regarding democracy from its evaluative elements (prescriptive) and with respect to its achievements (empirical elements) for the definition of the social State of Law. Methodologically, this work is supported by the critical review of documents and texts, to carry out in a first phase an analysis between four reference authors Sartori, Bobbio, Kelsen, and Habermas, later an approach to the Colombian case. It is concluded that despite the theoretical positions of democracy they also involve aspects related to constitutional prescriptions (values), to understand democracies like the Colombian one, these must be complemented with political achievements that lead to the protection of the rights of people (empirical materialization), the creation of opportunities that make the life project possible
