BLOCKCHAIN BASED SMART HEALTH CARE SYSTEM
Access to patient information from any location improves accuracy, medical error rates, and effectiveness of healthcare services. Blockchain technology has emerged as a promising solution that provides a decentralized, secure, and reliable means of storing data while ensuring the privacy and integrity of health data. The integration of EHRs into the healthcare system began in the 1960s; however, it was not until the later part of the 20th century that the need for electronically capturing and storing patient data commenced. Currently, electronic databases and cloud services remain the most utilized methods of storing EHRs, but these infrastructures are prone to unauthorized access and data breaches. The issues with data integration, security, and breaches stem from a lack of healthcare system collaboration as well as data sharing policies. Stratosphere seeks to resolve these issues with a blockchain based decentralized solution for storing and sharing patient records which will serve as the base of this research. By using a combination of context-aware policies, private & public ledgers, and smart contracts, this solution enables sharing of sensitive medical information while protecting the confidentiality of the patient. With the use of Python along with Ganache, the goal is to have controlled access EHR systems that allow secure storage and sharing of medical information. This project emphasizes the need for automated systems that seamlessly blend into society for more efficient healthcare collaboration.
