Candidatura única, cisão interna e apoio a governistas na Primeira República brasileira: : o caso da ação eleitoral de oposicionistas paranaenses de 1921 a 1926
This article analyzes the nature of the political activity of oppositionists from Paraná in the period covering the years 1921 to 1926. This time frame was a time when there was no state opposition party in that state. It was, therefore, a political landscape characterized by marked difficulties in the development of electoral action by oppositionists. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to advance understanding about the electoral participation of state oppositions in the last years of the First Brazilian Republic. There are three arguments supported in this work. First, the dissension among the opposition in Paraná made it impossible to reactivate a minority party. Secondly, the option for a single candidacy in parliamentary elections highlighted the low competitiveness of the opposition. Third, the eventual connection with government officials was peculiar to the political activity of oppositionists in that state.
