Atresia Intestinal Tipo IV y sus Complicaciones: Presentación de un Caso

Intestinal atresia is a rare birth defect characterized by disruption or discontinuity of the gastrointestinal tract. This research is presented with the objective of documenting the clinical case of a patient with intestinal atresia type IV, focusing on the complications associated with this condition, in order to contribute to the understanding of the pathophysiology, clinical management and long-term results. This article describes the case of a newborn with intestinal atresia type IV, diagnosed by prenatal ultrasound that showed polyhydramnios and images of a distended colonic segment. At birth, the patient presented with the classic manifestations of a low bowel obstruction: absence of meconium elimination, abdominal distention, and bilious vomiting.
