Aplicação de práticas lean na administração pública: eficiência e redução de desperdícios em serviços governamentais —uma revisão sistemática

This study investigated the application of Lean practices in public administration through a systematic review of the literature. The research aimed to identify how these practices contribute to improving efficiency and reducing waste in government services. To this end, data from the Web of Science database were used, with five-year time filters and a focus on peer-reviewed studies. 8 relevant articles were selected and analyzed that addressed different contexts of application, such as health, education and public safety. The results showed that practices such as continuous improvement, value stream mapping and leadership support positively impact operational efficiency in thepublic sector. Benefits include reduced waiting times, process optimization, and increased user satisfaction. However, challenges such as cultural resistance, lack of specialized training, and difficulties in adapting Lean tools to the specificities of the public sector were highlighted. The analysis suggests that while Lean practices are effective, their implementation requires cultural and institutional adaptations, as well as committed leadership. This study contributes by consolidating evidence on the effectiveness of Lean Thinking in the public sector, proposing guidelines for future research and practical applications.
