Análisis Lingüístico de la Traducción Orgullo y Prejuicio: Un Estudio de las Adaptaciones Dialectales del Inglés al Español
It is common knowledge that foreign films for many years have gone through a process of translation and dubbing in Spanish, either in one or more versions for the different variants of Spanish, such as Latin American or Peninsular Spanish. The purpose of this is that the public can receive the message quickly and clearly. In this article, a qualitative analysis of the dialectal adaptation solutions in the AVT (audiovisual translation) into Spanish of the 2005 film “Pride and Prejudice”, directed by Joe Wright, based on the novel of the same name written by Jane Austen in early 19th century, is carried out. We will investigate how the different elements of the 19th-century English language, such as social class markers and regionalisms, are expressed in contemporary Spanish.
