Objective: To identify symptoms associated with anxiety using the Beck inventory. Methods: correlational, prospective and cross-sectional study in 753 students from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, 128 from the Faculty of Stomatology (FE), 217 from the Southern Regional Complex (CRSL), 348 from the Tlatlauquitepec High School of the Northeastern Regional Complex (CRZN) and 55 from the Faculty of Engineering(FI). Results: 63%women(478) and 36%(274)men, 350 were part of the last year of high school and 403 of the first year of university between 17 and 20 years old; by means of Pearson's r2 , anxiety in general was moderate, there is no correlation between age and symptomatic questions; in absolute value they are close to zero. There is a positive but slight correlation (0.20) between age and digestive problems. Correlation between items, in CRZN, the correlation is between fear and being frightened, in FE between fear of the worst, instability, frightened and insecure and in FI it was between sex and instability. Discussion: this may be feasible because there are more males than females; it is suggested to approach with the students the thoughts that arise from the situations they consider stressful looking for their interpretation and the results they fear the most.
