Steel is a non-renewable natural resource; steel production in the manufacturing sector is the sector with the highest greenhouse gas emissions, and this is due to the fact that coal with a high carbon content is used in the production process. This paper discusses how steel is related to climate change and recommends other steel production options to reduce polluting emissions.
