Análisis victimológico de un caso de asesinato serial de mujeres dedicadas al sexo de pago
The case under study contains highly relevant elements regarding victimization of women who engage in paid sex. The perpetrator was convicted of murder and sexual abuse, committed serially using cocaine against ten women. The typical barriers that prevent access to justice and protection for women in paid sex were at play: they did not report the crimes, and when they had contact with institutions, they often received inadequate responses. Furthermore, observing the social reaction through written media has revealed how social mechanisms that shape and represent victimhood reinforce the dynamics of stigmatization and have produced a process of victim idealization.
