Участь США в подоланні екологічних наслідків війни в Україні

The article is devoted to the analysis of the environmental consequences of the war in Ukraine, as well as the role of international support in the country’s recovery processes. The war caused significant destruction to natural resources, ecosystems, infrastructure and residential facilities. Monitoring systems were destroyed due to hostilities, which makes it difficult to determine the environmental damage caused. Shelling and military actions have negatively affected marine and terrestrial ecosystems, industry, transport routes, water supply and waste management systems, which creates long-term problems for human health and nature. Since an accurate assessment of environmental damage is difficult, an important tool for recovery has been the application of national legislation, in particular the Law of Ukraine «On Environmental Protection» and «On Environmental Impact Assessment», which regulate the restoration of ecosystems and the reduction of environmental risks. International support, in particular from the USA, includes the supply of environmental equipment, software and professional assistance. In particular, the launch of the Clean Futures Ukraine program contributes to the cleaning of territories from toxic remnants of military operations and contributes to the development of an ecological map of pollution. Together with American specialists, projects of digital monitoring and mapping of environmental losses are being implemented. The Government of Ukraine, in turn, is actively working on the creation of the EcoThreat platform to record environmental losses. Of particular importance is cooperation with international partners, in particular with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which contributes to the mobilization of financial resources for the restoration of ecosystems and the stabilization of the country’s economy. The article also outlines the need for reforms in Ukrainian legislation, in particular in the direction of assessing military environmental damage and developing special mechanisms for cooperation with international partners. The system of international support plays an important role in the restoration of infrastructure, financing environmental projects and in the integration of Ukraine into European structures. An effective combination of efforts of the government, the international community and the public can ensure not only the country’s recovery after the war, but also the sustainable development of the economy and ecosystems, which is important for the stable future of Ukraine in the global context.
