It is indicated that the vast majority of legal institutions and their structural elements are based on or guided by provisions based on certain principles. Clarification and definition of the principles of social influence as the main means of correction of convicts allows to correctly build the interaction of civil society institutions with institutions and bodies that execute punishment, to determine the goals, objectives, directions and content of activities, to ensure the effectiveness of corrective influence on convicts. The article examines, based on current legislation and international legal acts, the principles of public influence as the main means of correction of convicts. In the conditions of European integration and martial law, the participation of institutions of civil society in various spheres of life acquires a special significance. The task of supporting socially significant initiatives, developing interaction between institutions of civil society and the population with public authorities in solving issues that can cause social tension, including the creation of a system of social support for persons convicted of crimes, is an urgent task. These provisions constitute the political and legal basis for the creation of a system of state-public influence on persons serving criminal sentences. The object of the study is the complex of public relations in the sphere of legal consolidation and the application of public influence as the main means of correction of the convicted. The subject of research includes theoretical knowledge about the application of public influence on convicted persons. The methodological basis was determined by a systematic approach to the study of legal phenomena and a complex of methods: historical, systemic-structural, formal-logical, and prognostic. The content of public impact is determined, which is characterized by the following principles: public, non-state nature of the impact; socially useful and targeted nature of the activity; a variety of subjects of public influence, representing various institutions of civil society, involved in the corrective process; a variety of forms of public influence, differentiated depending on the type of criminal punishment; normative regulation of public influence, carried out by the norms of criminal law and other legislation; voluntariness and openness of activities to provide public influence on convicts; gratuitous activity manifested in the absence of payment; individual nature of public influence on convicts.
