Zadržavanje Rusije putem Kosova i Ukrajine : Realistička Analiza Spoljne Politike SAD-a na Kosovu i Ukrajini
The thesis investigates the strategic use of US military support as a tool for containing Russian influence, despite being framed as humanitarian intervention and support for sovereignty. It argues that US engagement in Kosovo and Ukraine—direct intervention in Kosovo and indirect support in Ukraine—reflects a consistent realist strategy of power maximization and containment, masked by liberal and humanitarian rhetoric. Methodologically, the thesis employs a comparative case study design utilizing qualitative content analysis, consisting of primary documents, speeches, and agreements such as the Rambouillet and Minsk accords. It utilizes classical realism, offensive realism, and proxy war theory to critically assess US actions as manifestations of great power competition within an anarchic international system, rather than exceptions to international norms. The findings demonstrate that US interventions, whether direct or indirect, follow a strategic logic of undermining Russian influence while leveraging liberal justifications to legitimize these actions on the global stage. The thesis concludes that these interventions highlight the selective and instrumental use of moral rhetoric in pursuit of national interest, challenging conventional narratives about humanitarian intervention and democratic support.
