Variação hematológica de alevinos de Tilápia do Nilo (Oreocrhomis niloticus) submetidas a diferentes níveis de suplementação de alho silvestre (Nothoscordum inodorum)
This study aimed to evaluate the hematological parameters of Nile tilapia fed diets supplemented with wild garlic at different inclusion levels: 10, 15, 20 kg/m³, and 25. Garlic has been recommended by some authors for treating stress-related diseases. Diets were formulated containing 8% garlic introduced into the feed. The experiment lasted 60 days and comprised one phase. No variations in temperature were observed, remaining close to 30.5ºC; dissolved oxygen levels stayed below 3 mg/L, and pH values were within the ideal range for the species, between 7.3 and 7.7. At the end of this period, blood was collected via cardiac puncture from three animals per treatment for white cell analysis. The results showed that treatment T1, with the lowest animal density per area, presented reduced thrombocyte levels and higher lymphocyte levels compared to other treatments. Monocyte concentrations across the four treatments showed no significant differences. Eosinophil and basophil levels were similar in all treatments. Wild garlic (Nothoscordum inodorum) proved to be an effective immunostimulant and reduced the effects of stress in culture systems. Animals tested under similar conditions and fed higher amounts of garlic showed efficacy in reducing circulating glucose levels
