Sveriges negativa reporänta: Tillväxtstimulerande eller inflationsdrivande? : En empirisk och teoretisk analys från 2015 till 2023
This thesis investigates whether Sweden's negative interest rate policy (NIRP), implemented from 2015 to 2023, successfully stimulated economic growth or contributed to rising inflation. The study applies both theoretical models (IS-LM, Taylor Rule, Fisher Effect) and empirical data analysis to assess the outcomes of this unconventional monetary policy. The results suggest a mixed impact: while inflation remained below the 2% target for most of the period, signs of overheating emerged in asset markets. The thesis concludes by discussing policy implications and the effectiveness of NIRP in the Swedish context.
