Síndrome nefrítico asociado a glomerulonefritis por infección
Nephritic syndrome secondary to infection-related glomerulonephritis is characterized by haematuria of glomerular origin, decreased urinary volume, and proteinuria accompanied by oedema and arterial hypertension; it may occur as a consequence of one infection or multiple infections, which may or may not be streptococcal infections. Here it is presented a clinical case of a 17-year-old male patient with a diagnosis of acute glomerulonephritis associated with Cytomegalovirus and Giardia Lamblia infection. The initial clinical course was rapidly progressive, which warranted prompt treatment with corticosteroids, loop diuretics and immunosuppressants, which rapidly reversed the acute kidney damage. Thus, it was decided to take a biopsy of the renal parenchyma, demonstrating by immunofluorescence technique mesangial deposits of IgA in the same, confirming the diagnosis of the immunological association related to the infectious processes described above. In this case, the importance of the clinical finding is highlighted, given mainly by a timely clinical history, together with paraclinical examinations; uroanalysis, renal function tests and immunological tests, in order to establish timely treatment with good results for the patient.
