Relación del Nivel de Conocimiento sobre Diabetes y la Adherencia Terapéutica
Introduction: Type 2 diabetes, a prevalent condition worldwide, demands an understanding of both its treatment and complications. This knowledge improves therapeutic adherence and facilitates decision-making by patients. Objective: To establish the relationship between the level of knowledge about T2D and therapeutic adherence methods: Cross-sectional, relational study. It was held at the UMF 9 Tehuacán. It included patients with T2D of both genders, a total of 164 patients. The following were applied: DKQ-24 measuring the level of knowledge about T2D, Cronbach's alpha 0.84 and Morisky-Green questionnaire (MMAS-8) for therapeutic adherence, Cronbach's alpha 0.83. For the analysis, descriptive statistics and inferential analysis were used: X2. Results: Total patients (164, 100%), female (62.8%), range: 30 to 80 years, 62.8% female; The most representative 50 to 60 year old group (31.7%). 75% presented an adequate level of knowledge. High therapeutic adherence (22.5%), medium adherence 47.6% and low adherence in 29.9%. When performing the analysis between variables p = 0.366. Conclusions: No significant association was found between knowledge and therapeutic adherence. The T2D population has adequate T2D knowledge; however, it is not reflected in therapeutic adherence. Key words: Type 2 diabetes; Therapeutic adherence; Level of knowledge
